23rd CIML Meeting — Minutes (EN, Bulletin)

The minutes of the 22nd meeting of the Committee were approved without modification.

a. The Committee approved the Auditor's report for 1987 and instructed its President and the Director of the Bureau to submit it to the Eighth Conference.

The Committee accepted proposals from its President relating to the organization of the Eighth Conference. It also agreed to nominate respectively Mr RICHARDS, Chairman of the National Standards Commission (Australia), and Mr LEWISH (Austria) and Mr PUTERA (Indonesia), for the Presidency and the vice-Presidencies of the Conference. These nominations were proposed by Mr BIRCH and Mr BIRKELAND respectively.

Mr ATHANE presented a number of proposals from Member States to disband existing Reporting Secretariats (because they had completed their work, or because their field of work had been subsumed into the work programme of another Secretariat, or because the subjects concerned were of low interest or were already completely dealt with by other international institutions), and to create new Secretariats.

The Committee took note of the report on the activities of BIML for the period September 1987 to October 1988.

The Committee unanimously elected for a six year period:

In application of a decision by the Conference under item 5 of its agenda, the Committee charged the Bureau with transcribing the discussions under that item and sending the text as soon as possible to the Members of CIML, to be considered by the Presidential Council and then by the Committee.

There was no other business.

The Committee accepted the proposals concerning the organization of the Eighth Conference: presidency, agenda, time table, etc.
